Play American Revolution Book Bingo

The American Revolution, a film by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt, aired recently on PBS, who kindly provided libraries with related programming ideas. We’ll be offering Book Bingo now through June 30; check off 5 squares in a row for categories such as “read a historical fiction book set in the 1770s” or “read a non-fiction book that includes maps” to be eligible for the grand prize drawing. You may read from our collection or your own, and we’re always happy to borrow titles for you from another library. This game is also open to children. Stop by to pick up your game card!

We Have Started the Sustainable Library Certification Program!

This award-winning program provides us with a tested, structured path forward to increase our library’s commitment to environmental stewardship, economic feasibility, and social equity.

HVL Kids: Read with Ally the Therapy Dog

We are thrilled to welcome our newest volunteer, Ally the Therapy Dog! Reading to animals can help build confidence and improve read-aloud skills. Ally (and her human, Patti Dann) will be in the children’s room, waiting to listen to good books, each Thursday from 4:30-5:30.
