Beginning Monday, October 16, Harrison Village Library will join Bridgton Public Library, Casco Public Library, Naples Public Library and Raymond Village Library in the Chickadee Library Consortium, offering our patrons a shared catalog, shared collections, and shared access.
Using our online catalog, you may now request items be sent to your home library. You may also pick up items directly from a participating library. Inter-library loan service will still be available for any items not held in the shared collection. There will be some changes; library cards are coming, and our loan period will change to a three-week loan, with one three-week renewal. The overdue process will move much more quickly, in a matter of weeks, not months. We will still remain fine-free for overdue items.
We ask for your patience as we navigate this change, and as we all grow accustomed to the new system. Forming the consortium allows us to continue to offer you convenient, high-quality service, with more reliable tech support. It also positions us to be able to join the state-wide borrowing consortium; more on that later.
The library will be closed October 14, and online access turned off for the weekend, while we migrate our system.
